Heather is the Curriculum & Credentialing Manager at Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School.  She earned her MA in TESOL and EdM in Applied Linguistics with a focus on pragmatics and classroom discourse at Teachers College, Columbia University.   She is passionate about connecting data to decision-making, and research to instructional practice.

Sharla is a Lecturer in Georgetown University’s English as a Foreign Language program. She completed her MA in TESOL at American University, and also has a BSc in English Education and TESOL Education (K-12). She has taught abroad twice (in the Czech Republic and the Dominican Republic) and is originally from Canada.

Dr. Heather Weger is currently an Associate Teaching Professor in Georgetown University’s English as a Foreign Language program, the same university from which she earned her doctorate in Applied Linguistics. She began her teaching career in 1999 in Germany, and has served as a consultant on assessment and curricular issues both nationally and internationally.

Rebecca is currently the Panama Bilingue Program Manager at American University. Prior to that she was a Senior English Language Fellow in Panama, and held various other positions in the US and abroad. She holds an MA in TESOL from American University and a BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester.

Connie Lee, ESL Director at International Center for Language Studies, holds a master’s in TESOL from the University of Pennsylvania and certificates in Teaching Business Communication and Assessment.  She has 15 years of experience as an IEP faculty administrator. Connie is a CEA site reviewer and a proud mom of Chichi, her Bengal cat.

Jennifer is currently Program Manager for Technology Enhanced Learning at Georgetown University's Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS). She taught for several years in GU’s intensive English program and served as a TEFL volunteer in the Peace Corps. Jennifer earned an MA in TESOL from American University.

Julie is a Legal English Professor in the Two-Year LL.M. Program at Georgetown Law; she teaches international lawyers academic and English language skills. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Georgetown University and has over 15 years of classroom and research-based experience in the U.S. and abroad.

Katie taught and mentored in Baltimore City Public Schools for ten years before being an English Language Fellow in Colombia for two years. After a couple years as faculty and then staff at Georgetown University, she started in late 2016 as part of the social media and domestic outreach team at DoS in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Rebecca is a Professor of TESOL and Applied Linguistics in the School of Education at Virginia International University. She has an MA in TESOL from Michigan State University and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Georgetown University and has taught ESL in adult education and university contexts.

Mary is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Washington English Center where she coordinates the program’s volunteer teacher training efforts and decisions its curricular materials . She completed her MA in TESOL at American University and previously taught abroad in Turkey through the Fulbright Program

Emily is an Assistant Coordinator in the ACLI and TESOL programs at NOVA Alexandria.  She completed her MA in TESOL at American University and her BA in East Asian Studies at UVA.  She has taught abroad in Japan, as well as taught both adult and higher education in the U.S.

Aimee is a Communications/Web and Social Media Administrator at Briya PCS. She has also taught ESL, ELL Civics, and Digital Literacy. She originally studied Music at Bethel College and after a few years of teaching, switched gears a bit to work in communications and is now studying HTML, CSS, and Web Design at General Assembly.

Joanna is the Associate Director of Education Connections, a K-12 EL professional development research project at CAL. She has taught English abroad in Spain and the Czech Republic and ESL in the United States. Joanna has an MSc in Applied Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh.

Colleen Shaughnessy is an ESL Instructor at Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School.  She has taught adult ESL, ESL methodology, and trained teachers in the US, Bolivia, South Africa, Kyrgyzstan, the Congo, and Rwanda.  She is interested in ESL literacy especially with adult learners with limited/interrupted formal education.  She has MA in TESOL from UMBC and is ABD in Adult Education at Penn State.

Lindsey teaches basic ESL and literacy to adult immigrant students at Carlos Rosario School. She first fell in love with teaching English when she taught in Brazil. At American University, she received an MA in Intl Peace and Conflict Resolution. She later went back to school at UMBC for TESOL.

Shereen received her M.A. in International Relations from St. Mary’s University, and a Ph.D. in Culture, Literacy, and Language from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Christyann is a Professional Development/Curriculum Specialist.  She has 15 years of experience in ESL and got her start in teaching as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria.  Christyann received her MA in Curriculum and Instruction from George Washington University and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Trinity Washington University.

Erin recently completed her MA TESOL at American University. After years living abroad and negotiating new languages and cultures with her family, she is committed to serving DC’s immigrant population. Erin continues to volunteer as an ESL teacher at Washington English Center. She is also interested in teacher training for volunteer teachers.

Emily teaches for DCPS at Raymond Educational Campus, serving recently arrived ELLs in learning the language of math. She also teaches English to adult immigrants at Washington English Center and is on WEC’s Academic Advisory Board. She has an MAT in TESOL from Trinity Washington University and loves biking, running and traveling.

Sevtap is currently an Assistant Professor at Prince George’s Community College’s Language Studies Department. She holds a MA in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL speciality  from George Washington University. She is a Swiss born Turkish-American citizen who has had the opportunity to teach to students from various social-cultural backgrounds.
